Recipes and vacation count-down!
Hey Everyone
How is your week going so far? Myself, my husband and my parents depart for our vacation in Maine this coming Friday. It's all that I can think about!!! No TV, no phone, no computer- just reading, fishing, hiking, napping and spending quality time with the family. I will though miss my Monday night meeting and sending out my weekly e-mails :( I did pack ALL of my recipes and WW stuff to try new recipes and keep on track. Ladies and Gentlemen.... my blog/recipes are going on the road!!!! :) I will take pictures like usual and will post my reviews/pictures when I return. I am really excited about my 1st vacation on the program. Many may dread it since there are so many temptations and your routine is totally off. Don't get me wrong- it will be super hard but I am looking forward to the challenge and reporting back on how I made out.
I found some super awesome recipes this week and hope to send out one more e-mail before I go Internet-less for 10.5 days! I also put together some articles that I found over the week that I thought were really interesting.
I managed to try a new recipe this evening. Chicken Breasts with Parmesan Crust ( included in the 70608 doc). It was super yummy!!!!!! It was super easy and I had all the ingredients at the house without having to go to the store. Nice way to spice up chicken. I can't wait to make this again. Picture attached. ( see my other blog for recipes and picture)
Enjoy the recipes and please let me know if you try any! Together, it can be done!
Enjoy and God Bless

My big "announcement is" ....
I MET MY WEIGHT WATCHERS GOAL WEIGHT AT LAST NIGHT'S MEETING!!!
I cannot even believe it. Now that this day is here, I do not think it has fully sunk in yet. I can remember my first weight watchers’ meeting like it was yesterday. I remember walking through the doors of WW for the first time with my head down, I didn't like how I felt and I didn't like how I looked. I let food and my schedule take over my life for far too long and I was unhappy for too many years. However, not today, today is a brand NEW ME. I wake up every morning and am so grateful for the wonderful blessings that I have received over the last 10 months on this journey. I have to say that the #1 thing that got me to where I am today is all of you, these e-mails and my blog. It kept me motivated to look for new recipes, tips and ideas for the WW program.
I wish that I could meet you all in person and personally thank you for the encouragement and motivation that you have given to me. I am truly blessed to have met each of you through WW. I get excited to hear everyone’s stories and how their week went- good or bad. Even though I have reached my goal weight and on my way to becoming a Lifetime Member, I plan to still attending my weekly meetings to make sure I stay on track. It's amazing how fast those old habits come back to haunt us. I was thinking to myself, how can I go and celebrate this big event?? 1st thing that came to my mind was driving down to dairy queen for a blizzard... how funny would that have been :*P.
On Roni's blog this week, she posted the question “What have you gained from your weight loss journey?". There were tons of replies made by other women that hit really close to home for me. I made a list of their answers that fit how I feel about meeting my goal and what I have gained from this wonderful experience.
Finally, I said I would do this when I met my goal, I have attached my before WW and now pictures. Many on this e-mail list I have not met before and some have only seen me 1/2 way through my journey. I don't remember the woman in the before pictures and I plan to NEVER meet her again!! I have to give much credit to my wonderful husband for taking the time to shoot my "now" pictures this evening. I wanted to capture the feeling on the actual day that I met my goal.Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for all the encouragement and motivation you have sent me along the way. I wish there was more that I can say to express how grateful I am.
It can be done!!!

Recipes and Articles 7/12/08
Hey Everyone
How is your weekend going? Boy is it hot out there. To beat the heat, my mom and I went shopping early this morning. There are some great sales out there this weekend. I needed to pick up some more clothes for the summer time. I needed a whole new wardrobe, it's a fantastic feeling- but I have been buying new pcs here and there. Even if you just started your weight loss journey, head out and buy yourself an article of clothing that is your new size or the next size down. Use it as motivation for the next few weeks, its really works!
So I came across this site this weekend when looking for store coupons: http://printable-coupons.blogspot.com/. Check it out, it's a must.
Didn't try new recipes this week, just make alot of the ones I've made before and threw together some basic/quick dinners too. I hope to head to the food store tomorrow and stock up on ingredients to make new things this week coming up. I also put together some articles I found over the week that I thought would be useful to everyone, hope you enjoy them.
See most of you on Monday... I may have a big announcement that night... stay tuned..... :)

60 lbs down, 1.8 more lbs to go!
Meeting yesterday went great. I thought I was going to stay the same but I ended up pulling off a 1.4 lbs lossfor the week, I was dancing inside when I saw my sheet. I realized that I had only 1.8 more lbs to go to reach my goal weight. I don't think it has sunk in yet. I started WW in late Sept and it's now mid July and I am so close to goal. Can't even believe it. I started working on my before album that I promised to publish once I met my goal weight. I don't have a ton of after pictures yet so I will have to break out the camera and have my hubby help me start my after album. I am going to push even harder this week since I am so close - fingers crossed!

Recipes and Reviews 7/6/08
Hey Everyone
Sorry it's been over a week since I've been in touch with everyone. Been super busy and away from the computer alot. Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend. We only had one bbq to go to but I did well. Made sure to eat before we went and drank water the entire time. I was pleased with the menu. They did have chicken, which I was super excited about and I ate all the fruit I could to fill up on. Friends of ours went to Lancaster for shopping yesterday. I packed little snacks and water since I knew we would be gone all day. We went to Fudruckers for lunch- yuck!. I walked in and instantly wanted to walk right back out. The problem is they had no healthy items on their menu. They also did not post their nutritional values on their site or in the restaurant. I ordered the grilled chicken and tossed the bun before I even looked or smelled it- the bun had to be 6 points on it's own. I did splurge and get the potato wedges since one pcs of chicken wouldn't cut it. It's just gettin g annoying having to worry about what I am going to eat when we go out. Places need to get with the program and offer more healthier items and sides on their menus. They did have salad but from the look of what the put on top, a burger would have been just the same amount of points. Then for dinner, my friends waned to order a pizza- another dilemma for me. I had 1/2 pcs and said I wasn't hungry. When we got home ( it was 845pm by that time) I ate a huge bowl of carrots and an apple so I didn't miss out on my fruit/veggies for the day. We'll know at tomorrow's meeting if the eating out had any real affect, fingers crossed!
I did get to try some new things out this week and includeed the reviews below and attached pictures.
Sweet Potato Fries ( greenlitebites.com) I don't think I ever included the recipe in an e-mail but saw it on her site and wanted to try it out. Boy was it good!! I don't like curry ( didn't have it either) so I used cinnamon instead. I am going to make these again. Super yummy and really filling. (pic attached)
Southwestern Chicken Skillet- LOVED IT!!!! Will be making it again this week since I have 1/2 the velvetta cheese left over. I used seasoned diced tomatoes which I don't recommend. Hubby couldn't stop telling me how much he loved this dish. I had leftovers for the next few days too. I paired this with the fries and steamed veggies. A whole cup was one serving. (pic attached)
Whole grain banana pancakes- I haven't had pancakes in awhile since they are high in points but this was super easy to make and really yummy! I've never used whole wheat flour before and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. It make 9 servings but I only made two pancakes and tossed the rest. I should have made them all and froze them but I was in a rush and wasn't thinking this morning. I used SF syrup and topped with sliced strawberries (pic attached)
Hershey Bar Haystacks- I wasn't sure if I'd like them cause I thought it would taste so much like the cereal, but I was WRONG. These were so yummy. They were bigger than I thought and really helped me crave the chocolate fix I was having after dinner. I will make these again and freeze them for a rainy day. Fiber made me really full the rest of the night. (pic attached)

Recipes 6/27/08 and 2 reviews
Hey everyone
What a week- it's been a busy one. We are watching my 3.5 year old niece over night and through tomorrow afternoon. Some ask why I have so much time to find the recipes and keep up with the blog- I don't have kids yet! She just went to bed at 10 pm- yikes! I praise all you parents out there- it's alot of work.
I didn't get to try many new recipes out this week. I made a lot of ones I've tried before cause I had the ingredients on hand. I did make two dishes Wednesday night when we had company over. Sorry no pictures this time- I think I would have scared my company by taking a picture of their dinner plate before they ate it! :)
Mesquite Chicken. I put this in the fridge in the morning to marinate all day. Though is says to grill it, we ran out of charcoal so I baked it. It was YUMMY. So easy to make. Everyone loved it and asked for the recipe.
Pineapple Rice- I couldn't stop eating this! I love rice and I missed the taste so much. Though you use only 2 cups of rice, it made a ton. I have a bunch leftover. Next time, I am going to use brown rice instead. Since it's so sweet I don't think you'll be able to taste the difference. I paired this and the chicken with some steamed broccoli and carrots - everyone really enjoyed it- even the 11 month old baby at the table :)
I know I don't normally send out two sets of recipes in one week but I found a ton online and wanted to share them while I still had them sitting in my e-mail. I would love to hear your feedback if you try them - don't be shy! ( check out my other blog for the attachment)

Recipe and Funny Picture

Hey Everyone
I thought I hit a plateau but it turns out, I just needed to change a few things up that I was doing and really get back into the following the program to a tee. I was really happy at weigh in tonight, the extra hard work paid off! Be sure to read the articles I sent out last week, they came in handy more than I thought they would.

So this weekend, we did some summer cleaning. I have a walk in closet that I haven't been able to "walk into" for some time now. I had all these clothes that I don't wear piled up and nothing to do with them. So I decided that all my " Old Michele" clothes had to go!! I was going to throw them all in bags when I thought, no wait, I want to be able to SEE how far I've come. So I started stacking all the clothes at the edge of my bed. It took me some time to get all the clothes out and organized. When I was done, I stood back and looked at the pile. I actually started to tear up, not sure what came over me. I just thought to myself the pile represented so many years of being unhappy, unhealthy and not myself and the pile was going to FINALLY be gone out of my life. I attached a picture of the pile, as well as the picture of them all bagged up. The big bags, I am going to keep the clothes. I hope never to wear them again but as most of you know as so on as I reach goal weight- Matt and I plan to start a family. So those "Old Michele" clothes will come in handy for those 9 months. The rest I am giving away to Purple Heart. I did make sure to keep my "biggest size" shirt, pants and jeans. Once I reach lifetime- I want to take pictures with my "Old Michele" clothes on- like Jared on those Subway commercials!!!! he he he. I am a visual person so seeing where I was and where I am now- just really kicked my spirits into high gear and made me challenge myself more than ever to loose these last 4 lbs. Check out my other blog for this week's recipes.
p.s- 40 members on the e-mail chain now, whoo hooo!

Recipe Reviews 6/17/08
Hey Everyone
Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Can you believe the 1st day of summer is right around the corner? I just looked at the calendar and I officially have 39 days till vacation, whoo hooo! One of the goals I set when I joined WW was to climb a mountain in Maine with Dad that I did when I was 10 years old. I cannot wait to get there and reach that goal, I can just smell the Maine mountain air just thinking about it.
So below are my recipes reviews from things I tried out last week. As you can tell, I was busy in the kitchen. Let me know if you'd tried any out too.
Best Brownie - YES, FINALLY!!! After weeks and weeks about all the rav reviews on this recipe, I finally made them. Knocked my socks off! I used the chocolate syrup instead of the double chocolate- it was the only one I could find. I checked out the points and they are still the same for both kinds. I was shocked how big the brownie pcs was for 2 points. I put some in the fridge for the week, put some in the freezer for later, and brought the rest into work for my co-workers on the program- knocked their socks off too! That week, I would eat one brownie with 1 little dollop of FF cool whip, best way to end the day. I can't wait to make more and keep them wrapped up in the freezer in 1-2 servings to have on hand. I took pictures of the blender w/ the beans so you could see what they should look like. The batter in the bowl and then the final product. Can't believe I waited this long to make them, what was I thinking??
French country chicken skillet - I have been searching high and low on ways to spice up chicken, since I make it all the time. This was a A+ winner! I really enjoyed it. Hubby couldn't stop raving about it and by the way it looked, I didn't think he would enjoy it. I didn't have tarragon but I made the recipe anyw ays. I will buy it next time for sure (I looked up online for other uses for it in recipes, I found a ton). This even warmed up really well the next day. Sometimes food w. / sauces taste weird re-heated but I actually liked it better the next day
Cheesy eggs & potatoes - I have never had potatoes o' brian before but I really wanted to try this recipe out for 3 points. If I was a huge fan of onions and peppers in the morning, this would have been the best recipe. I ate it all and was really filled but the veggie taste in the morning didn't sit well with my taste buds. Hubby wasn't around but next Saturday, I am going to make this for him for sure, I know he'd enjoy it (sorry, didn't take a picture, it was too early to go looking for the camera)
Grilled Sweet and Sour Chicken - Now on my Top 10 favorite WW recipes. I was really in the mood to grill and so happy I came across this recipe. I did have a hard time finding sweet and sour sauce- ended up finding it at Acme and it was on sale, whoo hoooo. I was dancing in my seat when I tasted this! I miss sweet and sour chicken from the Chinese pla ces so much. And I realized the part I missed was the sauce and not the greasy fried chicken that comes with it. I paired it w/ green beans and a baked potato with black beans and sour cream. It was such a low point meal but I could hardly move from my s eat after eating it. We are making this again this week for sure! S&S sauce stores in the fridge really well.
Strawberry Jell-o. I made this in the morning so it could be nice and chilled for dessert time. It was ok, not the best dessert but for 1 point, not too bad either. I had to put some FF cool whip on it just to give it a little more flavor. I think most people would enjoy this recipe, it's sweet. I am weird when it comes to chewy things and I thought the strawberries were a little weird, but that is just me. And I am a fan of chocolate anything for dessert.
HG Butternut squash fries- Though the prep work to make these took some time, they were really worth it. The picture I attached are the fries before I baked them. I do wish they would have been crispier but I pulled them out as soon as they got a little burnt. With ketup and salt, they really tasted the real thing- it was almost weird when you thought of what you were actually eating. I am not sure if I will make them again but I do want to use her other recipes that call for butternut squash. I'll keep you posted.
All the recipes were included in previous documents. If you would like a copy of any of the recipes I have a review for, I can e-mail you just the recipe.
Check out my other blog for pictures of the recipes above. They were too large to attach to the e-mail. http://www.blogtolose.com/profiles/blog/list?user=2y8nlzsv51vgy

Exciting news, I have started a SECOND BLOG!!! Who would have thought? Roni's Weight Watchen site has created a huge WW blog site called " Blog to Lose". I am able to connect to more people, as well as post my recipe documents for all to view. I will still blog on my blogger site as well- they will go hand and hand. Be sure to check them both out daily for updates. I hope to journal more and more each day as ideas, thoughts and recipes reviews to to mind. Feel free to leave comments on the blogs if you'd like.

Wanted to tell everyone a funny story about food shopping last night ( will blog about this too). So I went food shopping last night around 915pm- my usually Monday night shopping after my WW meeting/dinner. So I stocked up on the WW yogurts and other low-fat items they had on sale ( WW Candy is 1.86 a bag and the coupon at the meeting has a BOGO- can't beat it!!!). When I was in line, the woman at the check out asked if I was on WW- I guess from the food I was purchasing (healthy food rocks!!!!). And I told her I was. She asked if I've had any success on the program. I told her " Well, I have, I've lost 56 lbs since September". I thought her eyes were going to fall out of her head. She asked a whole bunch of questions about the program so I put my a little promotional hat on and went on and on how the program works and how it just teaches you to live healthy and make the right choices. She told me she is on Nutra-System a nd has to cook meals for her family and then eats hers out of a box- who wants to live that way?? . I went on to say though she is working portion control, it won't give her the tools and guidelines needed for when she's out in the real world, having to eat real food. We chatted a bit longer ( she totally messed up on my coupon in the meant time, ha ha) and finally she told me- she's going to finish out the meals she bought and sign up for WW. HOW COOL IS THAT?? Such an unlikely place I thought I would be promoting WW and getting someone to join. It was an awesome feeling. She works nights and I told her there are morning and afternoon meetings. I had an extra tracker in my purse and gave it to her to keep. You just never know when an opportunity may come around to spread the news on how the WW program is working for you!!!
Oh, the new WW magazine came out this week - head to the store to get your copy. I signed up for a 3 year membership about 2 years ago. I love the magazine. Only comes out 6 times a year but I get so excited when I receive it in the mail. I like to keep all the copies and then read last years for the month we are in now. Another thing, sign up for the WW e-mails from their site. Tons of great articles, tips, stories and recipes are sent in their e-mails. The Sign Up section is on the right hand side of the WW main page.

Tips and Gadgets
So I have been jotting down some little things that I do on a regular basis that keeps me going on the program- planning ahead. Maybe a few of these tips will help, I hope!
Ground Beef - So I am a member of BJS- go there about twice a month. I pick up my ground beef from there. They have the 93% fat free kind in 5-6 lbs. portions. 4 oz of the ground beef is 4 points. Great for burgers and all the recipes that call for ground beef. I bring the meat home and measure it in 8 oz portions (using my scale) and then put them in quart sized freezer bags labeled " 8 oz / Date" . I can get a ton of little bags out of it. I also make 4 oz burger patties from it and freeze them in the patty shape. Most recipes call for 8 oz of meet and since it's only Matt and I - it's the best size. And when the recipe calls for 1 lb- I just use two bags. This way, I always have the meat in my freezer - planning ahead!
Chicken- If you know if anyone who's child goes to a school that sells "Market Day" food as a fund-raiser - ask them to give you the information. You can check out the site as well to find a location near you. I don't believe you need to know someone to order from there. If you have the WW Complete food guide, you might have seen "Market Day" items and their points. I used to order a ton from them until I found out the points of the stuff I was buying. Now I just order the chicken ( though there are a good amount of low point items they offer too) . Chicken comes in a pack of 12 - each pcs is 3 oz and individually wrapped and frozen. Costs about 13.50-14.50 a box. I buy two at a time so I always have it on hand. Pop them in the microwave on defrost and whaallaa. You have chicken for the recipes if it calls for it. - planning ahead! http: //www.marketday.com/
Snacks for lunch/on the go. I love to stock up on the 100 calorie snacks and any other snack that comes wrapped up and is 1-2 points each. I have a huge lock & lock container that I keep on my countertop full of these items. I put them all in there when I buy them- less room cause the boxes they come in are bulky. BJs is starting to carry a ton of 1-2 point snack items ( like the curves bars (1 pt) and the Fiber One bars (2 pts) Since I throw out the boxes, I keep a chart on the fridge or on the outside of the lock & lock that lists all the items inside and their points- just in case I forget down the road. On days I know I won't be around much, I grab 2-3 items from the box and keep them in my purse so I don't get hungry when I am out and out. - planning ahead!
Line up Recipes for the Week - I like to plan on the weekends what I am going to make for the week. I get the store circulars in the mail but I take advantage of the grocery store's online tools. Giant and Acme both have features that allow you to create a "shopping" list based on the items on sale and a part to include your other odds and ends. Then they put the items in categories when it prints out - like produce, baking, dairy- etc. And sometimes I will double a recipe and freeze the rest. This helps on days I don't have much time to cook or didn't get to go food shopping. - planning ahead!
Making Lunch- I prefer to make my lunch the night before. This way, I have time to think about what I want and ensure I am prepared for the next day. On Thursdays, I am at work from 730am till 930pm. So I have to pack 3 meals, snacks and the hubby's breakfast/lunch ( we work at the same office) If I am rushing in the morning, I might make poor choices or forget to pack the essentials - fruits, fiber and veggies. I also throw in a few extra things to keep at my desk at work just in case. Like popcorn, can of veggies, low fat soup, bars, lolly-pops. - planning ahead!
I also wanted to list a few gadgets that I bought awhile my WW journey that I couldn't live without- here are some examples:
Food Scale: http://www.amazon.com/Newline-Electronic-Kitchen-Scale-White/dp/B000JIHCLS/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1212113955&sr=8-5
I love this one cause it has a bowl to measure things like pasta or liquids. It also has a "tare" button so you can place a glass on top and then hit "tare" and it will go back down to 0.00 and not caught the weight. I use it just about every time I cook. I measure my fruit as well. Apples and Bananas vary if points based on size and ozs.
Pedometer: http://www.amazon.com/Omron-HJ-720ITC-Pedometer-Advanced-Management/dp/B000MN92WM/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods&qid=1212114020&sr=8-2
I recommend this one cause 1- it's purple, my favorite color- and 2- it comes with software that I can track my progress. I don't wear it everyday cause some of my work pants make it look like a pager. I use it when I am working out, walking outside to track my distance or shopping to see my distance too.
WW Points calculator- Bought this when I 1st started the program. I don't leave home w/o it. I don't like to stand in the middle of the grocery store and use the slider- people give you funny looks sometimes. So having this gadget makes it look like you are just adding up the prices on a calculator. Fits in my purse or my pocket. And it doubles as a calculator too. Pick one up at your next meeting if they are available.

off track kind of week.....
Hello to everyone out there in blog-world!!This is my 1st random thought posting. Here is goes!
I had a very off week this week. My schedule had me out of the house just about every night of the week. I wasn't able to try out any new recipes or really cook dinner for that matter. We ended up going out to eat twice this week ( which never ever happens) and I had a pack a lunch-like dinner for the two nights we went to the DMB show. After such a long and tiring week, Matt and I headed to the new Applebees that opened up in Aston after church this afternoon. I had stepped on the scale earlier in the morning and found my 1st GAIN in several months. I was super bummed. So I went to Applebees with the full intention of getting chicken fingers and fries- an old friend of mine... But after looking at the menu and the pictures of all the not so healthy food that I could choose from, the little voice in my head told me " It's not worth it..." so instead of chicken and fries- I picked an item off their WW menu. Chicken w/ potoates and steamed veggies. I shocked myself. I guess after all these months, the program has really changed me and helped me to make the right choices when I had full intentions of making the wrong ones. Tomorrow's meeting will be a rough one for me since I know I have an upsetting gain ahead of me but I can see why- the week was so off and I missed out on a few works outs and well-balanced meals. Being so close to my goal weight, I have to keep pushing through and realize tomorrow is a new day......... here's to a bad week gone by and a great week ahead!

recipe reviews
Hi everyone
Send me a message if you'd like copies of the recipes
_________________________________________________________________-
Cheese-it Chicken ( included in 52308.doc) Yummy. I thought it would be soggy but it turned out pretty crunchy. I love cheese-its but don't buy them often since they are 3 points per serving. It was nice to enjoy that flavor with the chicken. Hubby loved it so it's in the official cook book now. I stored the left over cheese-its in a lock and lock to use next time. This way, I don't eat the box since I know they are in the house. (picture attached)
Pizza Potatoes ( included in 518/08.doc) LOVED IT. I made it as a side dish with the cheese-it chicken. I didn't use as much pepperoni that it called for cause I wanted to save some for another recipe. I love that you don't have to add any butter and the taste is just the same. It warmed up really well the next day too. I can't wait to make this again (picture attached)
Low Points Chili ( included in 51808.doc). We got home after midnight last night and I had to get something ready for lunch in a flash. I remembered I had all the ingredients to make this. I am not a huge fan of chili but I was surprised that I really liked this. I think I would add 3-4 oz of shredded chicken next time and add the point. Hubby didn't care for it much but he likes meat in his chili. It made more than 3 servings but I still wrote one cup down at 3 points.
Ginormous creamy frozen caramel crunchcake- ( from Hungry Girl cookbook). I had this as my dessert after our WW meeting on Monday. I used SF raspberry jam as a layer for 0 points. I was stuffed after I had it. You can make a few at a time and wrap them up in press and seal and store in the freezer to have on hand. (picture attached)

Recipe Review:
I made these after dinner the other night. They were easy to make and they made the house smell soooo yummy. Next time, I will either spray the papers w/ pam or not use the papers at all- they kind of stuck. Great for breakfast or an on the go snack. Since it makes 24- you can freeze a batch for later!

WELCOME TO MY BLOG
Hello to everyone in the blog world. This is my 1st attempt at creating and keeping a blog, I am really excited about it. I have been attending Weight Watchers since September 2007. I started printing out recipes for 2 women at my WW meeting. After a short while, I started sending the recipes out via e-mail – and the list keeps growing and growing. Each Monday, I have more gals join the e-mail chain, it’s wonderful. We all send in our reviews after we have tried a new recipe. It’s a great way to network and encourage each other on our WW journey. So after so many months sending out e-mail, I have decided to add a Blog along with the e-mails. This way, I can reach more and more people who are on the WW program. Most of the post will be the e-mails that I send out, and maybe a few personal ideas and thoughts that I might have that day. If you would like to be added to my e-mail chain (I send out pictures of the recipes, as well as attachments of the recipes) – send me a message and I can add you on right away.
Enjoy and God Bless!
